Tools of the Trade

Having the proper cooking utinsils is vital to taking you cooking and baking to the next level. Specifically using non-reactive cookware. I want to taste the food, not the pan or a chemical reaction. This is one of my favorite pots. It's an All-Clad combination pasta pot. It has an inset for cooking pasta and an additional insert for steaming veggies. It is made of stainless steel so cleanup is easy and it is dishwasher safe. It's a great pot.

  1. Okay, I love that you are posting these recipes, because they are good family recipes that I don't currently have. As for the question that Judy posted I love to make German Hotcakes. There are a ton of different ways to make them and all are really good. In fact we ate it last night for dinner. As for the casserole dish, mom has that Hash Brown/Egg casserole that is really good too. Lynds

  2. Yeah, Amberly makes German pancakes all the time, but it's really not my thing. I should have her post her recipe on the blog. I wonder if the German's make German Pancakes. I will have to ask Mike Warme, he may know seeing how he has a strong German ancestory.

  3. Paul spent eight months in Germany waiting for the Americans to accept him into this country when he defected from Slovakia, he says he doesn't remember eating German pancakes, but then again that was thrity years ago. He does remember the German dumplings made with ham.

  4. Randy and I argued about whether what I make are German pancakes or not. He says they are called "dutch babies." So, Randy works with a German man. He asked him. He says that "German Pancakes" are thin and made from potatoes. So...what Amberly and I make are not of German decent. :) I looked it up and found that there is a lot of debate about this topic.
